Every year, I get extra excited to work on my sons’ birthday cakes.  This year, my oldest son, fairly early on, decided he wanted a Star Wars party.  Of course, at the center of all this party, was the cake!  Originally, I was planning on a three tiered cake, but then he said he REALLY wanted a four tiered one, and how can you say no to that!  We played around with a few characters, but ultimately decided on R2D2, Chewbacca, Darth Vader, and Yoda.  Of course R2D2 had to go on top for the dome, and my son said he really wanted Yoda’s feet, so he wanted him on the bottom.  I placed the other two just to balance out the colors.  Of course, this cake can be modified to adjust for characters and serving size.
